Project Summary:

The IPID diversion fish screen was replaced based on current design criteria and fish protection requirements accepted by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Marine Fisheries Service. Fish screens are needed on surface water diversions to protect fish from entering the intake infrastructure. They are designed to allow water to pass into the system providing users with cleaner water and more reliable flow, while protecting fish from dying or becoming stranded.

Design and construction of this project was complex as it required road improvements and a bridge replacement to enable construction equipment and materials access; working through challenging site conditions; and coordination of high recreational use.
